Father Valentin during the baptism.

It just makes so much sense that we need to wash away sins of an infant to appease a sky ghost.  Don’t worry, if convicted, the priest could be sentenced up to whopping 3 years in prison. Facepalm.

I never understood baptizing. Not only does it creep me out, but why on earth on we ridding innocent children from “Original Sin” when we’re bound to “sin” anyways. More reasons I can’t bear the Catholic church.

Baptism of infants doesn’t make sense.  Baptism is done as a declaration of one’s choice (as in, active choice, as in a baby cannot make that choice) to stop living for themselves and live for God.  Personal choice and personal relationship, not what your parents just plot out for you.

But baptism isn’t done to cleanse you of your sins.  It’s a symbolic action of rejecting a ‘worldly’ life and rising to follow God.  It’s kinda hard to explain.  But the only thing that ‘cleanses sins’ is grace.

Baptism isn’t about cleansing sins, it’s an act to accept you into the following of God. I was baptised as a six-month-old baby. We didn’t get dipped into a pool three times, rather, the priest had a flask, scooped blessed water and poured it gently on my forehead. Same thing with my brother. Whilst I do accept God graciously and will remain a Christian and not turn my back on it, I do agree that baptism should be done at a later age, for example maybe during the teen years.
